μέσα από στοχευμένες δράσεις. Μεχρι τώρα κρασιά ταξιδεύουν σε Μεγάλη Βρετανία, Βέλγιο, Γαλλία, Ελβετία και Ιταλία.

Last week on the 7th of March, we had the opportunity to present our wines to international buyers from Japan, South Korea, Poland, Belgium and Russia.
The wine tasting took place at Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki, where 25 foreign companies visited us and had the chance to taste Greek Wines.
OLKAS presented a wine list from wineries all over Greece. Wines from Lemnos, Santorini, Yannakochori, Drama, Paros, Crete, Kozani, Argolida, Viotia and Attica mainly from Greek varietals received excellent reviews!
Our plan for the promotion of Greek Wines and Spirits will continue the next months.

Η επόμενη μεγάλη δράση μας για την προώθηση των Ελληνικών Κρασιών είναι η συμμετοχή μας στην διεθνή εκθεση Vinexpo 2019 η οποία θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Bordeaux της Γαλλίας.
H Vinexpo 2019 αποτελεί μια από τις σημαντικότερες εκθέσεις του κλάδου με περισσότερους από 40.000 εμπορικούς επισκέπτες.
Η OLKAS θα συμμετέχει με Ελληνικά κρασιά συνεργαζόμενων παραγωγών τα οποία θα παρουσιάσει στο εκθεσιακό κέντρο του Bordeaux από τις 13 έως τις 16 Μαϊου 2019.

A magical wine trip to Greece: Wines from Peloponnese
The Peloponnese is a mountainous area, located in the Southern Greece and surrounded by the Aegean and Ionian sea. It is considered a very precious wine zone, where the famous Agiorgitiko in the area of and the special Moschofilero grows.
In the heartland of mountainous and semi-mountainous Peloponnese, you can find the vineyards of Mantinia. It is the are a where the varietal of Moschofilero grows, yielding low-alcohol white, very aromatic wines.
Mantinia- Bosinakis Wines
At an altitude of 650- 700m in the area of Mantinia, the family of Bosinakis specialises in the production of Moschofilero.
Mantinia- 100% Moschofilero, White Dry
The white dry Moschofilerlo has a grey-yellow colour with light saumon highlights. Intense aroma of evening primrose, lemon and blossom flowers. Full and crisp mouth with aromas of cherry, bergamot, frankincense and notes of sweet rose. High acidity and long aftertaste.
Ieria- 100% Moschofilero, Rose Dry
A wine with a light pink colour, aromas of rose and chamomile and wild cherry. It has a light body, certain acidity and an aftertaste that reminds with a strong taste of rose.
Argolida- Ktima Kontovrakis
Located in the east side of Peloponnese, in the region of Argolida, the Ktima Kontovrakis is famous for its unique Greek varietal “Rokaniaris”.
Ktima Kontovrakis decided to revive this ancient variety some years ago and today they can pride for being the unique winery in Greece that producers the white wine Rokaniaris.

The vineyards located in Northern Greece cover the areas of Drama and Kavala, Chalkidiki, Naoussa, Amynteo and Rapsani. Most of them have become famous for their red dry wines mainly from Greek varietals.
The soil is fertile, the vineyards can be found in mountain slopes or flat «terroirs» and the climate is humid.
We are thrilled to have included in our wine list, wines from the area of Northern Greece, from boutique wineries.
Drama- Domaine Michaeilidi: Located in the area of Drama, where all grape harvest is received, shortly after its gathering, and where the winemaking process begins at the modern facilities that equip the production unit.
The «Pyli» selection includes white, red and rose wines with the Greek varietal Assyrtico to play a significant role in the winemaking.
Naousa- Yannakochori- Kelesidi Estate
Yannakochori has been famous for its unique red varietal called «Xinomavro». The exact words in Greek mean «sour- black». It is one of the most famous Greek varietals, with full taste, dark red colour and tannins.
Kelesidi Estate, has its vineyards in the heart of Yannakochori. In a beautiful traditional winery, the owners produce organic wines with Xinomavro and Malagousia.
Kozani- Ktima Zande
In the area of PGI Velventos, close to Kozani, Zandes winery produces wines with the basis of Malagousia for the whites and Xinomavro for the reds.
Chalkidiki, Messimvria- Fourkas Winery
Fourkas winery is located in the area of Messimvria close to the city of Thessaloniki and produces organic wines, from both Greek and international varietals. Among the most special, is the varietal Assyrtico with its mineral and spicy aftertaste.
Rapsani- Dougos Winery
It is located at the foot of mountain Olympus. Its architecture is traditional, in total harmony with an environment full of historical elements and a breath taking view to mountain Olympus, Kissavos and Pinios river.The vineyards are found at an altitude of 550-700 m on the north-east Olympus slope.
The wine list includes the red Greek varietals of Xinomavro, Stavroto, Krasato, Limniona and Mavrotragano and the white Assyrtico which is aged in acacia barrels.

Lipsi island is part of the Dodekanese group, located on the East side of the Aegean. This island is a dot on the Greek map, with some of the most beautiful and picturesque sceneries.
On the island of Lipsi, there is only one winery, which was revived some years ago, when the owners decided to make wine of Greek traditional varietals.
The winery has a distinguished architecture and is open to welcome visitors during the summer months.
The most famous varietal of the island is a red grape called “ Fokiano”.
Lipsi winery produces red dry wine from Fokiano, rose, but also a very unique “blanc de noir” a white dry which blends two very famous Greek varietals (Assyrtico and Athiri) and a multi-award winning naturally sweet wines from Fokiano grapes.

Paros island is located in Cyclades, Greece. It is famous for each beautiful beaches, white houses but also for its very special indigenous grapes.
The climate is characterised by strong winds, few rainfalls and long sun shines during the summer.
Although the soil is barren with few water resources, Paros is famous for its indigenous grapes including Mavrotragano, Mandilaria(red) and Movmevasia (white).
Mandilaria, Movemvasia and Mavrotragano grapes, despite their difficult to pronounce names have become famous for their distinct taste and aromas.
The blend of Mandilaria and Movemvasia is a unique red wines with a strong aroma (from movemvasia) which softens the stong mandilaria.
In the village of Naoussa in Paros, you will find the «Moraitico Winery» where George and Liliana prepare the fantastic Island’s Wines.

The Island of Lemnos:
The island of Lemnos is located on the North- East part of the Aegean Sea. It has been famous for its beautiful beaches, picturesque villages but also for its wines since ancient years. The two most famous varietals are the white Muscat of Alexandria and the red varietal “Limnio” or “Kalambaki”.
The soil of the island is volcanic and its climate is characterized by strong winds and a significant expanse of seawater surrounding the island’s vineyards.
The Garalis Winery is located in the area of Ag. Dimitrios and cultivates an area of 5000acres , most of which with Muscat of Alexandria and Limnio. The cultivation of organic wines dates back in 2007 and is been held with a combination of traditional and modern means.
PDO Muscat of Alexandria:
Initially our grapes are pressed and then go through the process of cold extraction. We ferment the wine at16°C which unleashed the rich aromas which create the “Muscat of Alexandria”.
The ancient Greek poet Homer has repeatedly mentioned this grape in his works. The unique combination of berry aromas and mildly spicy tones along with its acidity and aging in oak barrels give the wine a wonderful aftertaste. Ιts crimson colour and distinctive flavour will fascinate you.

Santorini one of most visited Greek islands with a breath taking view – as a result of the collapse of half of the island due to a volcanic eruption – is the mother land of Assyrtiko grape.
The history of wine making in the island dates back thousands of years. Santorini wines are rare and distinctive. The volcanic and anhydrous soil of the island among with the lack of water and high winds gives wines with a distinctive characteristics intense minerality and savoury taste.

A very interesting wine show took place last week in London.
London Wine Fair was held at Olympia from the 21st until the 23rd of May 2018.
OLKAS was present, with a unique selection of Greek wines from different areas of Greece.
Wines from the islands but also from the mainland were presented in LWF 2018.
Wines from Lemnos, Paros, Crete, Lipsi Island, Naousa, manitnia, Kozani, Rapsani, Argolida, Attica, Nea Mesimbria mainly from Greek varietals, received excellent comments from our visitors.
Wines from Lipsi Island off to Japan!
We are very happy about our last project.
Unique Greek wines, produced in Lipsi Island from Lipsi winery have been exported to Japan!
Our partner, a well established importer from Kobe has made a selection of olives, extra virgin olive oil and wines to be included to his range. So last week, Wines from Lipsi Winery, Assyrtico & Fokiano were prepared for the Japanese market!

OLKAS participates in London Wines Fair 2018, which will be held at Olympia from 21st until the 24th of May 2018.
